Please join us in extending a warm NAACCR welcome to the newest member of the NAACCR executive office staff! Ashley Knealing joins us in the role of Program Manager of Informatics and Registry Development, a position to which she is well-suited. For the last ten years, Ashley has worked for the Minnesota Cancer Reporting System (MCRS), first as a technical specialist and more recently as a health program supervisor and lead for the MCRS interoperability and data modernization efforts. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in health information management and has a passion for informatics and interoperability.

Ashley will work closely with our partners and member registries as we continue to advance the role of informatics in cancer surveillance and as a project manager in support of the National Childhood Cancer Registry (NCCR). In her informatics role, she will represent NAACCR in U.S. interoperability initiatives, such as the USCDI+ Cancer Registry, and lead NAACCR’s ongoing efforts to align cancer registry standards with health information technology data standards for interoperability. Ashley will also help to identify and develop informatics training resources for cancer registries. In support of the NCCR, Ashley will work with participating registries and partners to increase participation and utility of NCCR data products.

Ashley lives in Wisconsin with her husband, two rambunctious boys, two dogs and crested gecko. In her free time she enjoys fishing, camping, watching football (Skol Vikings), enjoying time at the lake, kids’ activities/sports, playing volleyball (indoors and sand), reading, a good gym session, and spending time with family/friends.

As Ashley settles into her new role over the next few weeks and months, you may begin to see her on steering committee and work group meetings, getting a feel for the breadth and depth of NAACCR’s work. We hope you get a chance to meet Ashley and welcome her to the team!
