The Professional Development Steering Committee is looking for three to four volunteers to join the Upkeep Work Group (WG). We are seeking individuals with a solid understanding of the purpose and functions of a central registry. An ability to manage several projects simultaneously and experience with education and training is preferred. The Upkeep WG may meet as often as twice a month initially. We ask that members of the WG commit to a full year on the committee.
The Upkeep WG is responsible for updating NAACCR educational products. Our first big task will be updating the topics covered in the Understanding Central Cancer Registries training modules. There are currently 21 modules! https://education.naaccr.org/products/understanding-central-cancer-registries.
Upkeep Work Group Duties
The Upkeep WG will determine which modules to update first. They will then help form task forces (TF) to update each module. The Upkeep WG members will develop a timeline, set goals, and provide project scope to each TF. They will then monitor the progress of each TF and provide guidance as needed.
The new modules will be developed using Rise 360 software. This same software was used to develop the Principles of Cancer Registries training modules for central registries in low and middle-income countries. These modules are available at https://education.naaccr.org/international.
NAACCR staff will be using the software. The TFs will be responsible for updating/developing the materials to be entered into the software.
Interested in Joining?
We hope to get started in early January! If you are interested, please complete the MAP Form: https://www.naaccr.org/member-ambassador-program/. You will need to login using your MyNAACCR username and password. When you get to the “Interests” screen check that you are interested in Professional Development. On the following page check that you want to serve on a WG and in the text box state you would like to be part of the Upkeep WG.
If you are not interested in participating on the WG but are interested in contributing to one of the TFs that will be working on the training modules, please complete the MAP form. Be sure to let us know your topic of interest.
We hope to talk to you soon!
