Prior to official publication of the Central Cancer Registry Reporting HL7 FHIR Implementation Guide, the cancer registry community will have a chance to weigh in during a public comment period. Are YOU ready?

Join NAACCR on December 4, 2025, at 2:00 PM ET for an informational webinar on the Central Cancer Registry Reporting (CCRR) HL7 FHIR Implementation Guide (IG).

The CCRR FHIR IG supports the automated, standardized exchange of cancer surveillance data from ambulatory healthcare providers’ electronic health record (EHR) systems to central cancer registries. Its goal is to leverage existing technology frameworks and FHIR standards to enable efficient electronic data collection and exchange, reduce the reporting burden on healthcare providers, ensure secure data transmission, and improve the completeness, timeliness, and accuracy of cancer surveillance information through modern interoperability standards. As part of the HL7 ballot process, members of the cancer surveillance community will have the opportunity to review and provide feedback on the IG during the public comment period prior to its official HL7 publication.

This session will provide:
• An overview of the CCRR FHIR IG and the work completed to date
• A detailed explanation of the HL7 ballot process
• Guidance on how registries can review the IG and provide feedback or comments

The webinar is designed to help central registry staff become familiar with both the IG and the HL7 ballot process so they can effectively participate in the review and comment period.

The comment period for the CCRR FHIR IG will be open from December 19, 2025, through January 19, 2026. Comments and feedback are requested by January 7, 2026.
