The Research and Data Use (RDU) NAACCR Talks Work Group is seeking new members. NAACCR Talks are scheduled on Mondays at 2:00 pm Eastern Time. While originally these talks were research and data use focused only, these free webinars now cover a wider range of topics important to the NAACCR community and cancer surveillance. Find past NAACCR Talks, regardless of topic, on NAACCR’s Education and Training (NET) management system under the Education Tab on NAACCR’s website. A MyNAACCR login is required to view the recorded versions of these live webinars.
But how are new topics created?
Well, for research-themed NAACCR Talks, an RDU work group organizes periodic webinars that have featured both national and registry-specific analysis, including larger themes impacting cancer burden (e.g., Climate Change and Cancer), as well as training (e.g., Creating your Own Census Tract-Level SEER*Stat Databases). This work group strongly encourages users of CiNA and local registry data to feature their work in these webinars.
Due to attrition, the RDU NAACCR Talks Work Group is looking for new members to help identify topics and speakers for the webinars. We are also looking for a new chair or co-chair. Participation in this work group as a member would take approximately two hours a month, and about four hours a month as a chair or co-chair. No specific experience is required to participate in or lead this work group. All that is needed is an interest in epidemiology (including clinical epidemiology) and cancer statistics.
If you are interested in joining the RDU NAACCR Talks Work Group or have topic ideas, please email Recinda Sherman.
Do you have analyst trainings you would like to see presented? Do you have research topics you think need to be highlighted? Help direct the content of RDU-focused NAACCR Talks, and join the RDU NAACCR Talk Work Group!
