Happy New Year!

I hope you had a safe and happy holiday season. I also want to congratulate central registries on another successful data submission. Timely, complete and high-quality data ensures every cancer counts.

The NAACCR Board and Steering Committees have been working hard on the goals and priorities of the Strategic Plan. The Certification Evaluation and Recommendations Task Force (CERT) recently presented their preliminary recommendations to the Board. CERT is now reviewing the Board’s questions and comments. Plans will be made to share the draft recommendations with the membership.

The Board is also focusing on ways NAACCR can advocate for the cancer surveillance community. One goal is to identify advocacy groups with the most potential to partner with NAACCR and to start to build relationships. A document outlining the Value of Cancer Surveillance is also being developed to help with these efforts.

Plans continue to develop the 2025 NAACCR Annual Conference June 3-5, 2025, in Hartford CT. I hope to see you there. Call for Abstracts is open until January 15, 2025. So, get your abstracts in! See the conference page for details: https://www.naaccr2025hartford.com/. The 2026 annual conference will be held June 2-4, 2026, in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada.

As we start a new year, I encourage everyone to get involved in NAACCR. Please consider serving on a task force, work group, and/or committee. NAACCR’s strength is in the valuable participation of its members and participation provides a wonderful opportunity to learn and network with others. For more information on all the groups, please review the Committee Directory at https://my.naaccr.org/committee-directory. I encourage you to fill out a form for the Member Ambassador Program, which matches your skills and interests with existing groups. Sign up here: Member Ambassador Program.

I wish you all a safe and healthy 2025!
